DJ Services

One artist on the music and the mic, your DJ is your emcee, no hourly meter.

Modern Era Weddings wedding DJ services include professional DJ and emcee programming, premium JBL and QSC sound systems, wireless ceremony microphones, and unlimited pre-event music planning. With a 5.0 rating from 768 reviews on The Knot and WeddingWire, packages cover Florida, Pittsburgh, the Berkshires, the Poconos, and destination venues worldwide.

The work

Every Modern Era DJ is also your trained emcee, one person handling the music, the announcements, and the timeline all night. The package is the same across our entire roster: unlimited hours across every space at your venue, all the equipment, all the planning tools, and backup personnel and gear on standby. Pick the artist whose style fits your day; every artist sets their own rate, and that's the only thing that varies between them.

What’s included

  • Your DJ is also your emcee, one person, all night
  • You choose your artist (with our help)
  • Every artist sets their own rate, that's the only difference
  • Unlimited hours of music, multiple locations at the same venue
  • All equipment included, mics, speakers, dance floor lighting
  • Online planning tools (requests, do-not-play lists, timelines)
  • Unlimited consultations with your DJ
  • Backup personnel and equipment

Our DJ Package is built to be all inclusive to cover you for the entirety of your event. All of our DJs charge a competitive day rate for their services.

We do not charge by the hour because we are spending much more than just the on site hours focused on your event. From planning your soundtrack, getting top of the line equipment, traveling, setting up, rocking out and breaking down, we are 100% focused on your event, dedicated to throwing an unforgettable party with no hidden fees.

What's in every DJ package

Hand-picked DJs who can actually mix and read a room

Every DJ on our roster is auditioned and vetted for one thing first: real mixing craft. Beat-matched, harmonically-aware blends, no awkward fades, no jukebox energy. From there we look for the instinct to read a dance floor in real time: sensing when to lift the room, when to ride the peak, and when to pivot the genre because the crowd just told you to.

How we pick the DJ on your floor
  • Live-mixing audition required, not just a music library
  • Reads the room by body language, age mix, and floor density
  • Builds a custom set arc for your crowd, not a stock wedding playlist
  • Knows when to push energy, when to hold the wave, and when to switch genres on the fly

All the gear, every space, full backup

Your DJ shows up with everything the venue needs handled: concert-grade sound sized to your room, mics for every voice, programmable dance-floor lighting, and a redundant rig waiting in the truck. If something goes sideways mid-night, no one in the room ever finds out.

What's actually in the truck
  • Concert-grade mains and subs sized to your venue's room and guest count
  • Wired and wireless mics for ceremony, toasts, and emcee work
  • Programmable dance-floor lighting that moves with the music
  • Spare DJ rig in the truck plus an on-call standby DJ in our booking radius
  • Coverage across ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces, no extra charge to move

Why a day rate, not an hourly meter

We are 100% focused on your event from the moment we say yes, planning, consulting, traveling, loading in, performing, and breaking down. Hourly meters get in the way of all of it.

Pricing depends on the specific DJ you choose. Discounted weekday pricing is available, just ask.

Common questions

About dj services.

Is the DJ also the emcee?

Yes. Every Modern Era Weddings DJ is also a trained emcee. The same person manages music, microphone, introductions, toasts, and timeline announcements, which keeps the music and the spoken program tightly coordinated all night.

Can we request specific songs and submit a do-not-play list?

Absolutely. Every couple gets access to our online planning portal where you can build your must-play list, do-not-play list, ceremony selections, processional and recessional cues, and special-moment songs. We meet at least once before the event to walk through the timeline together.

What kind of sound system do you use?

Professional-grade audio equipment from manufacturers we have worked with for years and trust, along with backup equipment on-site for every event.

How is this service priced?

Modern Era Weddings uses day-rate pricing rather than hourly billing — your DJ, photo, and video packages cover unlimited hours on the day of your event. Photo booth packages run a fixed 5 hours of active rental time (additional hours are available as an upgrade). Pricing depends on the artist or DJ you choose, venue location, equipment needs, and whether the service is part of a multi-event Signature Wedding Weekend. Every couple receives a custom quote within 24 hours of submitting a consultation request.

Where is this service available?

This service is available throughout Southwest Florida (Naples, Marco Island, Sarasota, Tampa, Fort Myers), the Florida Keys (Upper Keys: Key Largo & Islamorada; Middle Keys: Marathon & Duck Key; and Key West), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes regions of New York. Travel is also available for destination weddings in the Berkshires, the Poconos, the DC metro, and nationwide.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (October-May in Florida, May-October in Pittsburgh) we recommend booking 9 to 12 months in advance. Off-season and short-notice bookings are accepted when availability allows.

How is DJ pricing structured at Modern Era?

DJ packages start at $2,500 and are flat day-rate, not hourly — your DJ covers unlimited hours across every space at your venue. The only thing that varies between artists is the artist's own day rate; equipment, planning consultations, and online planning tools are identical across the roster.

How do we choose which DJ on the roster will perform at our wedding?

Each artist on our roster has a public profile page with bio, specialties, and rate. After your consultation, we match you with the artists whose style and availability fit your date, and you pick from that shortlist — or you can request a specific DJ by name from the start.

People also ask

How much does a Modern Era Weddings DJ cost?

Modern Era Weddings uses day-rate pricing rather than hourly billing. Standard wedding DJ packages typically start around $2,500 and scale up with add-ons such as elevated lighting, photo booths, ceremony coverage, and live musicians. Multi-day Signature Wedding Weekend packages are quoted custom based on the number of events. Every package includes a professional emcee, premium sound, unlimited planning consultations, and our online planning portal.
